Crime: Duece and Crook Robber

Date: 2014-09-24

Location: not known location

Surrey 14-149764 Surrey RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying suspects involved in a series of service station and convenience store robberies this past month. Between September 24th and November 6th, 2014 ten robberies occurred at various gas station and convenience stores throughout Surrey. The similar method in which these robberies were committed suggests that the same suspects are involved. In a majority of these robberies, a stolen Dodge Caravan has been reversed into the locked businesses front doors in order to gain entry to the store. After gaining entry, the suspects proceed to steal a large amount of cigarettes and, in some instances, lottery tickets. None of the employees were physically harmed during the robberies, however, they were physically threatened and intimidated. The suspects appear to be white males, between 5’9” to 6’2’, and approximately 180-200 lbs. (Please see attached photos of one of the suspects). Police believe that the stolen cigarettes are being sold in bulk to an unidentified commercial buyer and are looking for further information that could help identify the suspects. A number of investigative steps have been taken including interviews with multiple witnesses, retrieval of forensic evidence, video surveillance, and identification of possible persons and vehicles of interest, however, the suspects have yet to be identified. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP Robbery Section at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca.

Crime: Fake Tix

Date: 2015-02-14

Location: not known location

Counterfeit Tickets Ticket fraud is a major criminal activity in the Lower Mainland. The numbers are astounding, and are evident at nearly every concert in the city- large and small. It is thought that one criminal group alone is responsible for sales in the millions over the past 4 years. The tickets are very authentic looking and are often sold through sites like Craigslist. The sellers have plausible stories, like they are selling on behalf of their moms. They give contact numbers; unfortunately, they use pay as you go phones that are tossed once the event wraps up. Police have a number of suspects in these cases. Unfortunately, it is rare that victims come forward in these cases, making prosecutions almost impossible. If you recognize these individuals, or have information on suspected ticket fraudsters, call Crime Stopperrs at 1-800-222-8477.

Crime: Fuller Cold Case

Date: 1993-03-04

Location: not known location

At approximately 5 am on March 4, 1993, a paper delivery person called 9-1-1 to report an apartment fire in the 8700 block of Granville Street. When firefighters arrived, they found a body inside the burned out apartment. The deceased was identified as Jillian Fuller. The police investigation quickly revealed she died as the result of an assault and that the fire had been deliberately set to cover up her murder. Jillian was only 28 when she was killed. She was seen leaving the Fraser Arms “Rock Cellar” Pub, at approximately 1:30 am. A waitress noticed that Jillian had been wearing a pink sweater with red trim and carrying a pink colored book. She was also seen to be leaving with a man who has never been identified, and described as 28-29, with olive complexion, average height, dark brown hair, thick dark eyebrows and wearing a blue shirt. Jillian’s apartment was located at Granville and west 72nd, only a short walk from the Fraser Arms. Jillian; daughter of retired lawyer George Fuller; was an accomplished young woman, described by those who knew her as outgoing, compassionate and very intelligent. She was once ranked among Canadian women’s speed skaters. Jillian studied French, played piano and was a competitive runner. Jillian lived alone and it’s likely she knew her killer, as there were no signs of forced entry to her apartment. It’s rare that someone commits an offence like this and doesn’t try to unburden themselves, or makes a mistake and tells someone. Police believe there are others out there who know who committed this crime. Jillian’s family continue to struggle with their loss. At the twenty year anniversary of Jillian’s death, her sister Jane wrote a letter describing the impact her sisters murder has had on the family:“The toll that my sister’s death has caused my family over the last twenty years is truly immeasurable. It cast a dark cloud on our family that has never been lifted. Her loss has left a deep wound over all of our lives, and the fact that her killer was never found means that wound will always be unhealed.” Video: http://bit.ly/1El5s4K

Crime: Kim Fofonove

Date: 1978-10-07

Location: not known location

Kim Fofonove was finishing his degree at SFU & was due to head to Regina in the spring, as he had been accepted into the RCMP. Away for the Thanksgiving long weekend, at a rugby tournament, Kim joined fellow teammates and others at a local pub to celebrate their team’s winning of two games earlier that day. Leaving the bar only minutes before closing, Kim exited alone and was found shortly thereafter, unconscious on the ground. Despite attempts to resuscitate him, Kim was never to regain consciousness, and would die in Vancouver hospital three days later. Although the RCMP ruled the death as caused by misadventure, the details of that tragic event have never come to light; the person or persons responsible for Kim’s senseless death have never been brought to justice and this case remains unsolved. Kim’s mom, Vivien Fofonove is now 87 years old. She has lived for years wondering what happened & why somebody killed her youngest child. Somewhere there is somebody who knows something. Somebody told somebody else. Maybe they’re parents and grandparents themselves now, all these years later. Maybe there’s no reason to fear telling the truth now. Maybe somebody needs to clear their conscience. One thing’s for sure: Vivien Fofonove and her one remaining son, Terry, need to have the peace of mind of knowing. If you have information on Kim Fofonove and want to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
